Emote< 1 MB500×500 pxPNG, GIFWording unclear
  • Custom emoji: Under 256 KB (the developer docs write 256 KiB). Uploaded up to 128×128 px and displayed at 32×32.
  • Sticker: Exactly 320×320 px and no larger than 512 KB.
  • Sticker: Sources disagree on animated format: the support FAQ lists APNG, while a Discord blog post says APNG or GIF. This tool outputs APNG by default and lets you switch to GIF.
  • Animated emote (manual sizes): Three GIFs at 28×28, 56×56 and 112×112, each up to 512 KB and at most 60 frames.
  • Emote: PNG or GIF under 1 MB. The help center says "500px x 500px"; it is unclear whether that is a required size or a maximum. This tool exports exactly 500×500, which satisfies both readings.
  • Emote: Third-party guides say uploads are cropped to a square.

Last checked: 2026-10-23. KB and MB are treated as 1024-based (256 KB = 262,144 bytes). Platforms rarely say which they mean, so the tool aims a few percent below the stated limit. Limits are rechecked every quarter.

Frequently asked questions

Are my GIFs uploaded anywhere?

No. TinyGIF runs inside your browser, so your picture is read from your own device and processed there. It is never sent to a server, and nothing is kept after you close the page.

Is it free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. The tools run on your own device, so there is no per-file server cost to pass on to you.

How big can a Discord emoji or sticker be?

A Discord custom emoji must be under 256 KB and is uploaded at up to 128×128 pixels. A sticker must be 512 KB or less at 320×320 pixels. The tools above apply these limits for you and show a green badge when the result passes.

Why does the result end up a little under the limit?

Platforms rarely say whether a kilobyte means 1000 or 1024 bytes, and a file that only just fits one reading can fail the other. The tools aim about 3 percent below the stated limit so the upload is accepted either way.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, in current mobile browsers. Phones have less memory than computers, so very large GIFs may need to be trimmed or processed on a desktop. The tool tells you when a file is too big for your device instead of freezing.
